Classic Chocolate Chip Cookies:

Makes approx. 22 cookies:

1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened (microwave is fine)

6 tbsp granulated sugar

6 tbsp brown sugar (light or dark)

1 egg

1 tsp vanilla

1 cup plus 2 tbsp all-purpose flour

1/2 tsp baking soda

1/2 tsp salt

1 cup bittersweet chocolate chips or chunks

  1. Preheat your oven to 350˚F. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper or silpats.
  2. In the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, cream the butter and sugars together until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the egg and vanilla and beat until combined.
  4. Add the flour, baking soda and salt and mix well.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  6. Drop the batter in large tablespoonfuls onto your prepared baking sheets. You can also use a small ice cream scoop. Space them out generously or they will melt into each other.
  7. Bake for 9-11 min until golden (if you use dark brown sugar, they will bake a little darker). Allow to cool 5 minutes on sheets and enjoy.
