Cocoa Chocolate Chip Cookies

Sometimes the only thing you crave is a chocolate chip cookie. And when a craving like that hits, nothing will satisfy it other than that exact chocolate chip cookie. And when you are craving extra-chocolatey chocolate chip cookies, I have the perfect recipe to satisfy that craving. I love baking with high-quality cocoa powder (I think the vast majority of my chocolate recipes are cocoa powder based) because it adds a ton of flavor and none of the extra butter or sweetness from chocolate bars. So when you want to add a kick of chocolate without adding a lot of extra calories, cocoa powder is perfect.

Cocoa Chocolate Chip Cookies:

1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, room temperature

7 tbsp granulated sugar

7 tbsp light brown sugar, packed

2 eggs

2 tsp vanilla extract

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1/2 tsp baking soda

1/2 tsp salt

1 cup bittersweet chocolate chips (or chunks)

  1. Preheat your oven to 350˚F. Line 2 cookie sheets with parchment paper or non-stick baking mats.
  2. Cream the butter and sugars together until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs and vanilla and whisk until thoroughly incorporated.
  4. Add the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt and whisk until combined.
  5. Fold the chocolate chips in.
  6. Using a small ice-cream scoop, drop the batter in 2 tablespoonfuls on your prepared pans.
  7. Bake for 9-11 minutes. Allow to cool for 5 minutes in pan and then enjoy!
